Lifers for 2019 (macros)
Lifers for 2019 (macros)
On a dank day I decided to take stock and so, following Greg's lead, here are my new macro species to date.
Re: Lifers for 2019 (macros)
Great moths, great pictures.
I take about half my photos on a neutral slate background, particularly if I'm questioning the ID. But a natural background can look way better - so 10/10 for matching your moths to their backdrops, especially in the "camouflage" shots.
Cheers, Julian

Thanks - I was inspired by Roy Leverton's pictures in 'Enjoying Moths' though to date only a few of my images approach his in quality. Of course my backgrounds aren't 'natural' in most cases (although see https://www.flickr.com/photos/149980226 ... ed-public/ for one completely un-posed image) but I do aim for 'naturalistic' backgrounds. Of course this is fairly easy for bark-resting Geometrids, but for some species I often have no clue as to natural resting position. It's always going to be a work in progress!
