Lots of moths

Post by PaulHopkins »

Great trapping session last night, with 71 moths of 18 species. A big contrast to GMS night last Fri, when I had 7 of 3! I'm lucky enough to get nights like this in Spring sometimes in my garden, before things generally take a downward turn in late April. Very mild early in the evening, but cooled down later for a minimum of 5.8 deg C.

18 Brindled Pug
15 Small Quaker
10 Common Quaker
4 Twin-spotted Quaker
3 Chestnut
3 Hebrew Character
3 Double-striped Pug
2 Pale Pinion
2 Oak Nycteoline
2 Clouded Drab
2 Diurnea fagella
1 Early Grey
1 Beautiful Plume
1 Common Plume
1 Oak Beauty
1 Water Carpet
1 Ypsolopha ustella
1 Acleris ferrugana/notana

Just the one, Greg - but let's just say I wasn't shy when it came to sources of light!

(More moths outside the trap than in it of course).

Cheers
