Delamere Forest:
On their way home from the GMS conference last Sunday, a group from Derbyshire stopped off for a couple of hours with their traps in Delamere and managed to catch Carpatolechia decorella. We’ve only got six previous records of C decorella on the database and all from different sites. Mostly recent records, this one fits in well with the past two records; all three roughly in the same weekly period during the past three years. One old record of C decorella which has just been unearthed is in the Morgan collection at Paisley Museum, caught at Oxton on 13th August 1900.
Also at Delamere were 10 Tortricodes alternella, 2 March Moth Alsophila aescularia, 1 Pale Brindled Beauty Phigalia pilosaria, 5 Dotted Border Agriopis marginaria and 5 Satellite Eupsilia transversa.
Now if only this east wind would stop blowing I might stand a chance of catching some moths in my garden, as the common Orthosia are starting to emerge in the south of the county.
Regards,
Steve
