American Piddock - 14 April 2015 - East Hoyle Bank, Hoylake
American Piddock - 14 April 2015 - East Hoyle Bank, Hoylake
I found an American Piddock (Petricola pholadiformis) on East Hoyle Bank on 14 April this year (2015) - tightly closed - brought it home and didn't realise until it started smelling that it must had a live animal inside - opened it up to find a dead one! Wondered if it was a strange cockle that had developed asymmetrically and only just got round to identifying it using the Internet.

I have just added two photos. Would be pleased if you could add to RODIS for me. It was between the new lifeboat station and the offshore windmills - from map would say somewhere around SJ210915.
