Pine Sawfly (Diprion pini) at Sandymoor

Post by bankst »

Pine Sawfly (Diprion pini) at Sandymoor:

Don't sawflies have attractive larvae? I was convinced this was the caterpillar of some exotic hawk moth until Messrs. Clarke and Knight put me on the right track - thanks very much gentlemen. This is the larva of the Pine Sawfly, Diprion pini, which I found on railings in Sandymoor, Runcorn on the 24th August 2011.

Tom.
