What are these?

Post by ChrisGJ »

Beside the path in Delamere Forest there was a very active colony of bees. (SJ 5398 6923). There were different sizes and appearance. Queens Drones and workers? They were coming in and out of holes in the sandy soil and none were flying.

Any comments

These are probably solitary bees of the Andrena species and other types, you probably knew that anyway, by going on the BWARS website you may get more info but as there are 250 types of mining and solitary bees you may need better photos or collect specimens. I'm no expert in this field, I just replied coz no-one else has, good luck !
