Cushion Scale (Pulvinaria floccifera):

Went to Taylor Park, Eccleston, St. Helens yesterday afternoon on the way back from going to the shops. At the top end of the Dam was a Rhododendron hedge with many of the leaves brown and discoloured. Turning them over revealed the females and eggs of large number of the Cushion Scale Insect (Pulvinaria floccifera) - a species I had never seen before.

Seems it attacks Azaleas, Rhododendrons, CAmellias, Holly and Yew.

Sadly, I could NOT put it into RODIS as this species is currently NOT in the NBN Taxon Dictionary. A request has been made to Charles Hussey (NBN Dictionary Manager) to have it added ASAP.
