Drop-in Session: Spring Bees

Post by RachelMC »

We would like to invite you to our first Drop-in session of 2019.

Theme: Spring Bees
Date: Wednesday 13th March Time: 19:15 – 22:00
Venue: Mottershead Suite, Cedar House, Chester Zoo

There is no need to be present for the whole session but if you would like to attend please book here via Eventbrite

At our first session for 2019 we will be focusing on spring bees, including what species to look out for during the coming months. We will have museum specimens, guides and microscopes on hand so you can familiarise yourself with the bees that you are likely to encounter this spring.

We are also very pleased to be launching our newly formed Cheshire Bee Recording Group. The aim of the group is to allow those with an interest in bee recording to get together to practice bee identification and increase the number of bee records for Cheshire through regular field outings and indoor sessions. If you are interested in bees, or you would like to join the group, then please come along to the drop in session, where you can register your interest and help us formulate a programme of events for 2019.

These Drop-in Sessions, run in collaboration with the Tanyptera project, are informal evenings where people can come together and assist each other with wildlife recording queries and mentoring at a convenient time. They provide opportunities to practise using keys and microscopes in a supportive environment, or can simply be used to meet up, have a cup of tea and discuss recording or spend time on other indoor activities. You can also request World Museum reference specimens and literature in advance to help check identifications / practise with a particular group. Feel free bring your own material too.

Email info@record-lrc.co.uk for more information or to request specimens or equipment for the session.
