Heath Assassin Bug Record Comes To Light:
Heath Assassin Bug (Coranus subapterus) - Thurstaston - 11th July 2003

I've come across a photo of what I think must be the Heath Assassin Bug (Coranus subapterus,Degeer 1773). The record dates back to July 11th 2004 Thurstaston Heath N.T. Apologies for the poor quality but there is enough to secure an ID I feel.

The search facility on Record threw up no records for any of the three British species of Coranus. On Steve Judd's list of Cheshire Bugs Coranus subapterus is classed as Local. The NBN shows several records in South Lancashire and possibly Cheshire.

I would like to know "What is the current status of C.subapterus" ?

Cheers,
H.
