New Online Bark-fly Key

New Online Bark-fly Key:

Some people who have been trying to identify barkfly specimens (Psocids) have not found the keys in Tim New’s "Psocoptera Handbook" very ‘user-friendly’. For almost a year now I’ve been working on a solution – an on-line photographic key. This is now complete and can be found at:

The key will, no doubt, need some corrections and improvements and to speed up the process the more people that try it out the better. So please give it a go – any comments will be very much appreciated.

As always I am keen to receive records of any barkfly sightings that you’ve made – either post or email them to me - cheers. And please do send them in to rECOrd too post, e-mail or RODIS are all acceptable.

Shane Farrell (Cheshire's County Macro-Moth Recorder) has been trying out a 'test' version of this key and has found it easy to use and very useful in identifying specimens of this group (Psocidea (Psocids) - Bark Flies, Bark Lice, Book Lice, etc.).
