Improving Wildlife Data/Record Quality:

Trevor James (Coleopterist and Botanist - of the NBN) has produced a document outlining the data flows and methods to help recorders understand how to improve the quality of their data and both where and how their data flows through the system to maximise its use and usefulness in aiding conservation, land management, the understanding of species and their changing distributions, etc., etc.

These guidance notes focus on wildlife data verification and validation, in the context of the overall collection, management and dissemination of the wildlife information. They are intended for use by anyone involved in recording, collecting or using wildlife data. They are not intended to be the last word on a subject which is currently constantly evolving. Different participants in biological recording will have more or less of a need to adopt particular methods. One solution will not suit everyone but this document will give recorders, LRC's and data managers a good starting point.
