Moore Nature Reserve - Insect ID Day - 15/07/2012:

A poorly attended visit, just 10 of us poked around the field next to the car-park. Weather was okay though and all that came along seemed to enjoy the 2 hours we were there. 2 types of damselflies, a cleg, Meadow Brown (lots of them), 1 Common Blue butterfly, 1 Comma, a common grasshopper?, a scorpion-fly, lots of soldier beetles, a Forest Shield Bug and various hoverflies (Syrphus ribesii, Helophilus pendulus and others, but not captured so ID's cannot be certain).

I did capture Volucella pellucens and was ID'd by Tony Parker. Also I saw Volucella bombylans - white tail version - but it slipped my net and no-one was about at the time to see it. If you want records please see Tony Parker because I wasn't in charge! :)
