Which Bat Species ??
I have Bats flying around the garden every year but wouldn't have a clue as to what species they are. I have read an identification paper posted on this website but that is all fine I f you have the Bat in hand. How can I find out which species when I only see them in the air?
Any advice welcome.
Regards,
Dave

Re: Which Bat Species ??
Having a Bat Detector will help, as different species emit calls at different frequencies. Here is a Key to the echolocation calls of British Bats:

Without a bat detector, then shape, size and flight are indicators. OPAL has a simple ID guide (mainly aimed at children, but a good starting point). It's available here: http://www.opalexplorenature.org/sites/default/files/7/file/Bats-in-flight.pdf
