Another purple plant to identify

Post by RachelMC »

This plant was photographed on the Earl's Eye Meadows In Chester and sent to the Friends of the Meadows, but we can't identify it. My guess is a type of scabious?

Can anyone help, please? Thanks!

This is Trifolium pratense, Red Clover. You can see the little pea flowers in the head. Scabious has more tubular florets.
