Hello all,
I found what I think could be Ivy Broomrape Orobanche hederae at Alyn Waters country park this week. I missed the Dune Helleborines Epipactis dunensis, but found this instead!
This time I actually went back with a camera to try and get a better shot than the one on my phone, not that it helped!
Any assistance with ID would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Eric
Possible Broomrape?
Re: Possible Broomrape?
Not quite a Broomrape, but with a similar life-style. This is Hypopitys monotropa, Yellow Bird's-nest, which used to be called Monotropa hypopitys! It a saprophyte, deriving its nourishment from decaying leaves and hence usually occurs under trees. I found some at Anderton Nature Park last week. It is not at all common.
Cheers.
