Staphylinid Workshop at Dinton Pastures:

Staphylinid (Coleoptera) Workshop - Dinton Pastures:

For anyone coming to the Staphylinid workshop at Dinton Pastures (Dinton Pastures Country Park is a country park in the civil parish of St Nicholas Hurst near Reading in the English county of Berkshire (http://www.ephotozine.com/photolocation ... rkshire-UK)) this Saturday (28th February 2009), it may be worth bringing a sieving kit. There is a big woodchip pile again in the overflow car park. I had a quick look on Sunday and found the following:

Bembidion properans (Carabidae)
Cryptopleurum subtile (Hydrophilidae)
Neuraphes elongatulus (Scydmaenidae)
Myllaena intermedia (Staphylinidae)
Nehemitropia lividipennis (Staphylinidae)
Datomicra nigra (Staphylinidae)
Dalotia coriaria (Staphylinidae)
Trichiusa immigrata (Staphylinidae)
Myrmecocephalus concinnus (Staphylinidae) in numbers
Lithocharis nigriceps (Staphylinidae)
Philonthus rectangulus (Staphylinidae)
Clambus simsoni (Clambidae)
Atomaria lewisi (Cryptophagidae)
Aridius nodifer (Latridiidae)
Cryptophilus integer (Languriidae)

This is one of the piles where Peter Hammond first found Cryptophilus integer in Britain. He has also recorded two other very recent additions to the British list here: Coproporus immigrans (Staph) and Migneauxia lederi (Latridiidae).
