A first spot! - Striped Ladybird

Post by fletcher »

I got my first sighting of a Striped Ladybird (Myzia oblongoguttata) at a site near Nunsmere on the 3rd of May. I have to say I am really pleased to have seen this species first hand as it is such an interesting species.

Thanks to the Mammal Group who organised the the trip and the ID guides!

I will see if I can get an image from our photographer for the day!

Has anyone else been finding Striped Ladybird anywhere?

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric

I have just looked in my collection and am miffed to admit that I don't have a specimen and don't appear to have found it in Cheshire before.
It was taken from Nunsmere a few years ago by Bill Hardwick, but there don't appear to be any recent records.

There are couple of ladybird species I will be keeping an eye out for this year - now I'll add this to the list!

Cheers
Don
