Hello all,
I picked this specimen up at a place just outside Wrexham today haveing had a report that somone had caught what they thought was a small scorpion.
It looks to me like a Devil's Coach Horse (Ocypus olens)
Sorry these were taken on a mobile phone camera again!
Any comments would be welcome.
Thanks,
Eric.
A suspected scorpion
Re: A suspected scorpion
Hi Eric,
Just got my broadband working again after a move, so I can answer this now.
Although it is not very clear, based on the size of it compared to what looks like a petri dish, the square head and matt appearance I would say it is a Devils Coach Horse. I had a 'discussion' once with somone who said his mum had seen a scorpion running across a path. When I asked if it had pincers, he said no, neither did it have a telson with a sting on the end, but it bent the end of its body up like a scorpion and he'd never seen anything like it before etc etc.
Cheers
Don
