An Aid to Bug (Hemiptera) Identification:

A website devoted to British Bugs (Hemiptera) is available at:

http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/index.html

This excellent site has many superb photographic images as aids to identification but stresses that not all bugs (never mind not all insects) can be reliably identified from photographs alone. A very wide coverage (including Psyllidae) and an excellent adjunct for those whose main interest is in bugs or for those who are more sporadic and casual in their interest but still would like to put a name to a find.

Hope it helps.

Steve :)

Shieldbug Adult and Nymphs Identification Chart:

A document with excellent graphics showing adults and nymphs of British Shieldbugs can also be found on the same website at:

http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/heteropte ... ml#juniper

Hope that helps people to record Shieldbugs during the coming year.

Please send your records to rECOrd (hannah@rECOrd-LRC.co.uk) or put them into RODIS over at: http://www.record-lrc.co.uk/c2.aspx?Mod ... ticleID=38

Looked at this site and the bugs poster with various instars was extremely useful. Able to identify species that don't appear as instars in other publications.
