Another Good Moth ......:
Hi,
35 moths of 14 species in the garden last night (06/05/2018), including Brimstone Moth Opisthograptis luteolata, Ochreous Pug Eupithecia indigata (2), Tachystola acroxantha (8) and Waved Umber Menophra abruptaria (2) all NFY.
This latter species is not a common visitor to my garden, with only 2 previous records. In April 2007 I had 2 records on consecutive nights. Possibly 2 different moths, but probably a recapture.
This morning as I approached my trap, I could see a moth on the outside, and this turned out to be a Waved Umber. A great start, and with 3 more species NFY it got better.
Later, while in the garden, I was looking at the fascia boards and guttering (it’s a long story, but a bit of DIY is required) and I noticed what looked like another moth. Viewed through binoculars it was another Waved Umber. Photographed from the garden, the image is not brilliant, but I add it for interest.
Mel.
