Argyresthia semitestacella is best found by tapping the branches of mature beech trees. As it had not been recorded previously in SJ96, I went to check a row of beech trees along Greasley Hollow, Wincle on 31/8/2018 and disturbed this adult which dropped to the ground.

I have found this species in many of the eastern 10km squares in Cheshire but there are few records from elsewhere in the county.
