Morning All

A busy night at home and Bickerton Hill last night.
My first Vestal at home, also NFY Northern Winter Moth, Brick and a couple of unknown from Bickerton 1st looks like a worn Flounced Rustic 2nd could be Scarce Bordered Straw. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg

The head looks wrong for Flounced Rustic. How about a worn Brindled Green ?

Your other moth fits a worn Scarce Bordered Straw. Have a look at the hindwing which should be pale with a broad dark border. There should also be a dark dash towards the base. Not sure what else it could be

Regards
Steve

Thanks Steve

I should have got the Brindled Green. The other matches the Scarce Bordered Straw as you suggested.
Two lifers in one night.
Well chuffed :P

Greg

I don't want to appear pedantic Greg, but why are you referring to vestal as vestral? I'm only envious because I'm not catching any moths, let alone top stuff like this.

Your right Adny my spelling is dreadful.
VESTAL I'll write it out 50 times.
The Scarce Bordered Straw also turned out to be a worn Flounced Chestnut.
So it wasn't such a good night after all.

Greg
