Micro we need help with

First trap to produce several micros.
1. Is this a gypsonoma sociana side & top photos.
2. Caloptilia species robustella or alchimiella?
3 & 4 Parornix species, not sure if they can be ID'd or record them as just Parnorix agg.
5 & 6 Not micros but are these two specimens Fryer's pugs?
Help and advice appreciated. Bob & Helen

Hi Bob & Helen,

yes, unfortunately adult Parornix need dissecting to be certain of what they are - much easier later on in the year when they are mining. The pug looks good for Freyer's.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Bob & Helen
With the orange apex and black dash in the centre of the wing, I would have gone for Gypsonoma dealbana rather than sociana.
Probably Caloptilia robustella but Caloptilia robustella or alchimiella is as far as you can go from photos according to the guidelines.

Thanks to both Steves. We should have realised it was gypsonoma dealbana but the markings shown on the top view threw us. Also it had hatched from a spinning and the larva is correct for dealbana.
Is it worth saving the micros as they died overnight?
Also is a photo required to confirm pale tussock (m) which was also close tot he trap? Thanks Bob & Helen

I've previously dissected both Caloptilia robustella and Parornix anglicella from your garden and these are probably the species you have caught again this year, so would prefer not to have to dissect these two.
