The slow progress continued here on 10/03/2020 with 2 Hebrew Character, 2 Common Quaker, Twin-spotted Quaker (NFY) and 3 Diurnia fagella also NFY.

Last night (11/03/2020) the temperature at 1845 hrs was 9 deg. C and although it was quite breezy, I decided to put my trap out for a few hours at least, in the most sheltered spot.

I checked it a couple of times and found 2 Diurnia fagella, 1 on the trap, the other on the fence nearby.

During the evening the wind increased considerably and by 2200 hrs, there were bits of dead twigs breaking off the branches above the trap. To avoid possible damage, I put the trap away.

Besides the two Diurnia fagella previously seen, there were 2 more in the trap.

A final search with the torch on surrounding vegetation and the fence produced the best moth of the night.

Water Carpet, a new species for my garden, was carefully potted and checked.

Don’t you just love it when the unexpected happens.
