Mordellistena Identification Guide:
I have struggled for several years to identify Mordellistena neuwaldeggiana, M. humeralis and M. variegata with any great confidence. But more recently I feel I have got to grips with them having found all three species for myself and having looked at specimens in OUMNH, BMNH and BENHS. I have compiled a guide to their identification including photos which is now available for download from the Mordellidae page of my website:

We are right in the season (currently July 2011) for finding these three species in woodland rides and glades so I hope others will find this useful. Please let me have any comments.
As for the rest of the genus, my struggles continue!
Good beetling,
Mark Telfer
