Herterarthrus vagans was recorded as a pupating larva in a leaf-mine on Italian Alder (Alnus cordata) at Ness Botanic Gardens, Neston, Wirral on the 24th October 2004.
Peruse the photos below to see the larval blotch mine on Italian Alder and also the characteristic Heterarthrus circular pupation 'pod' which the larva constructs and in which the pupa overwinters.
