Ladybirds at Little Budworth:

I spent a couple of hours at Little Budworth today, and while there did my usual 30 minutes of beating (I usually get fed up very quickly if I find little to interest me), but today was different. Seven-spot Ladybirds were everywhere and I saw several hundred with over 30 on one small birch tree alone. I managed to dislodge 4 Pine, 1 Fourteen-spot, 3 Harlequin and best of all 2 Striped Ladybirds. Well worth the effort.

Mel.

I have been looking at beetles for 20+ years but don't think I have ever taken this.

I tend not to look for ladybirds, because I like looking at small stuff on the ground, but will have to try harder.

Cheers,
Don
