Earth Tongue Fungi on a Front-Garden Lawn

Found a largish cluster of black Earth Tongue fungi on a well mown and small front-garden lawn in an urban setting in Woolton, Liverpool today (03/11/2008).

Still need to identify which of the black earth tongues they are so it will mean getting the microscope out later - I'll keep you informed. In the meantime, an excellent key to these fungi, which are often found in mown lawns and short-turfed grassland areas, may be found over at the North West Fungus Group's website at:
