Mange In Foxes and Other Mammals

Mange In Foxes and Other Mammals:

I have recently requested that the Sarcoptic Mange mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) be added to the NBN Species Dictionary which is also used by RODIS and Recorder-6 etc. This should be available on the Dictionary within the next couple of months which means that we will then be able to input records of this mite (i.e. mangy foxes etc.) into RODIS and thereby into the main Cheshire database at rECOrd.

Could I ask, if you have records of mangy foxes , whether you could send them to me (steve.mcwilliam@btinternet.com). I will collate them until such time as the species is available on the Dictionary and then I will input them into RODIS. The fields needed are as follows:

- Date seen (e.g. 14/03/2011)
- Species Name - (e.g. Mange Mite)
- Recorder's Name and Contact Details
- Location/Place seen - plus Grid Ref (or Post Code if it was in a garden)
- Host animal (Fox, Dog, Human, Badger, etc.)

Many thanks for your help.

Steve
