Striped Wainscot (Mythimna pudorina)

Post by stevehind »

Striped Wainscot (Mythimna pudorina):

Two Striped Wainscot’s were caught at Cadishead Moss LWT last night (27.6.2011). These are the first records for VC59 (South Lancs.). Is it spreading, with two caught in the last couple of weeks in VC60 (West Lancs.), after the first record in 2009 ?

Does anyone know of any recent VC58 (Cheshire) records ?

Steve

Steve,

I did quite a bit of trapping at Woolston Eyes, Warrington in the late 1980's looking for this animal (Striped Wainscot (Mythimna pudorina)). Ian Rutherford had asked me to do so following an unsubstantiated report of it having been caught there a few years before. I was never able to prove its existence there - sadly !!
