Ectoedemia sericopeza new to Cheshire VC58

Post by stevehind »

Larval mines of Ectoedemia sericopeza were found for the first time in Cheshire on 9th July 2011, remarkably at two sites by different observers, independent of each other.

Robert Homan picked up a couple of winged seeds off Norway Maple Acer platanoides whilst wandering through Stamford Park in Hale and Ben Smart found a mine outside Sale Water Park visitor centre.

The mine in Robert's picture is the fine black gallery in the right wing. Ben's picture shows an adult which he recently bred from Chorlton.
