Micro Help PLease?

Post by MPStanyer »

The first below I think is probably Teleiodes vulgella(?) but the other moth (second & third image below) I have been unable to attach an identity to. All are from 6th July. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Martyn

Hi Martyn
Teleiodes vulgella is correct for your first.
It's difficult to see any details on your other. Is it a tortrix ? maybe a Cnephasia ?

Thanks Steve, the second moth was small - approx 6mm long predominantly brown with fine black dots. I am wondering if it could be Neosphaleroptera nubilana?

Hi Martyn

It could be Neosphaleroptera nubilana. If you want to send it over I don't mind dissecting it for you.

Thanks for the offer Steve but it lived to fly another night. Next time perhaps.
Cheers
