Six-belted Clearwing

Post by melbellingham »

Today (20/07/2020) I spent a couple of hours with Huw at a brownfield site in Ellesmere Port, adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal. The site has been left vacant for several years, and the vegetation, including many wildflowers have moved in.

Huw had visited the site yesterday and attracted a male Six-belted Clearwing to a pheromone lure. Unfortunately, he was not able to get the required photograph.

I went along hoping that 4 hands were better than 2, which proved to be the case, and we attracted a further two males.

Wicked - shows the value of "brownfield" sites.

Cheers, Julian
