Identification of Ermines

Post by JohnR »

Are the following identifiable to species from photos? One in particular seemed silvery grey ground colour and I was thinking Yponomeuta rorrella. But then I read about grey forms of Yponomeuta malinellus and Yponomeuta padella. So is it agg. unless you rear your own?

Thanks John.

Don’t know why 2 photos are landscape rather than portrait.

Hi John

Some CMR's do accept records of Yponomeuta rorrella as did I from one observer familiar with the species during the large influx of July 2018 but generally I have followed the cautious approach suggested in the NMRS guidelines of only accepting an occupied larval web or a bred specimen.

Steve

Thanks Steve, I guessed that might be the case.
