Agriphila selasella/tristella?

Post by MPStanyer »

I assumed this moth was Agriphila tristella but on closer inspection of the photo it seems a pretty good fit of the description for A. selasella. Unfortunately it is not possible to discern whether there is any "cone" above the eye from this angle whilst the darker edging to the upper surface of the white streak is perhaps not as prominent as it should be on selasella? Not to mention the fact that there is no salt marsh anywhere near Marple!

Looks OK for Agriphila selasella. They have become more widespread in Cheshire in recent years.

Thanks - that's really useful as I thought I had some selasellas...but no salt marsh!
