Bucculatrix ulmella

Is it possible to confirm moth as Bucculatrix ulmella? Found daytime resting on a hazel leaf next to a hawthorn hedge under an oak tree. Have found mines and cocoon on oak leaves before in the garden. Thanks Bob & Helen

I would say it was OK to accept as presumably it has dropped of the oak. That is assuming you don't have an elm growing next to your oak in which the similar Bucculatrix ulmifoliae could be breeding.

No elm tree within several hundred yards so we will record the moth as ulmella. Thanks Bob & Helen

Confirmed as a male Bucculatrix ulmella.
