Couple of micros for ID help

Post by PaulHopkins »

Both these from 13/8/20.

The first I believe is Ypsolopha alpella, I think it's this rather than Y. sylvella because the cross lines don't reach the costa.
Ypsolopha alpella?
Ypsolopha alpella?
For the second, everything about Argyresthia semifusca looks right to me. The white patch was strikingly white, the dark areas had a purple tinge (not visible in any of my photos) and forewing length was 7mm, so big for this genus.

Hi Paul,

Your Ypsolopha alpella is a shoo-in. Lovely condition. Nice!

The Argyresthia also looks right to me, but I've been badly wrong-footed with these before, so I'd seek further confirmation....

Cheers, Julian
