Some Macros for ID

Post by JohnR »

These I am not sure about as I get mixed up when looking at Rustics. Are No1 and No 2 Six-striped Rustics? Is No3 Square-spot Rustic?

Cheers, John

Hi John, Would you mind if I copied these onto the Cheshire Moths Facebook group, as there hasn't been a rush to help with your ID's so far. I've spent a little time, but am reluctant to put my head above the parapet...! I don't think it's a Six-striped Rustic, or if it is, it lacks some of the features that I've seen in that species. I can't see past Square-spot Rustic at the moment, so would really value input from others on these three.

I think the first and last are Uncertain/Rustic agg.
The second is a Square-spot Rustic

Has anyone considered Lesser Yellow Underwing for the 3rd one?

Thanks for resurrecting this post and for all the subsequent ideas. I really value input from more experienced moth-ers as I struggle to get back into these IDs after a long break.

Regards John
