Micro ID help please

Post by A_Neal »

Hi all,

I’ve finally got round to buying a micro moth book so I’ve spent the last few days attempting to identify various micros from the last few months.

Is this Pammene fasciana? Caught on the 12th July.

Are these all Bud Moths?

Is this one of Caloptilia alchimiella/robustella? I assume they require dissection. Caught on the 14th August.

Could this be Eucosma cana? Caught on the 28th July.

More to follow once I get round to it.

You're right about the Caloptilia sp. It would need dissection. It's Category 4(R), meaning that it needs rearing from leaf mine - and dissection!

And the other three resemble Bud Moths, (Spilonota ocellana), yes.

Thanks Dave for the confirmations. Obviously the new micro moth book has helped because I don’t usually get many of them correct!
