An update of recent moths recorded
11/09/2020 (min temp 11.8 deg C) 28 moths of 12 species.
12/9/2020 (min 15.2C) 49 moths of 19 species, Black Rustic, Lunar Underwing, Pale Mottled Willow and Stenolechia gemmella all NFY.
13/09/2020 (min 13.1C) 117 moths of 29 species. The count assisted by 19 LYU, 10 Lesser YU and 46 Tachystola acroxantha.
14/09/2020 (min 14.6C) 114 moths of 29 species, Brindled Green NFY. Amongst the micro’s were 25 Tachystola acroxantha, 10 Light Brown Apple Moths, 5 Phyllonorycter leucographella (Firethorn Leaf-miner) and 2 Prays ruficeps (Dark Ash Bud Moth).
My Ash tree started showing signs of dieback last year, so I’m constantly removing this in the hope that I can save the tree, or at least prolong the useful life of it.
15/9/2020 (min 15.2C) 53 moths of 17 species.
16/09/2020 (min 12.7C) 65 moths of 21 species. Pink-barred Sallow NFY. Black Rustic, Brindled Green and Lunar Underwing now showing in most traps. Vine’s Rustic still appearing also.
17/09/2020 (min 11.2C) 62 moths of 17 species. Most notable was Light Emerald. LYU and Lesser YU still just in double figures.

Some nice moths in there Mel.
We're also seeing significant Ash die-back in our area, with armfuls of small twigs knocked down in high winds. I do hope the trees manage a recovery of some kind, or those moths dependent on Ash may be hard-hit.
