Yet another leaf mine from Aston Mere

Post by Tim_Ward »

I can't get off first base with this one, because I can't identify the host plant which was growing in the hedge. I wondered if it might be something like Blackthorn but I wasn't sure (photos attached). I was surprised to find what looks like a pupal case in the end of the mine, apparently untenanted. Do you have any idea what I've got here?
Gratefully, as always, Tim

Hi Tim

Looks OK for Blackthorn. The mines were made by Apple Leaf Miner Lyonetia clerkella

Regards
Steve
