Chestnut and possible Dark Chestnut

Post by JohnR »

I have not got a great deal of experience with these two species. Only caught a couple of Chestnuts and never a Dark Chestnut. In recent days I have caught a couple exemplified by moth A. I think this is a Chestnut.

Last night I caught moth B. It seems to be quite shiny, have the requisite sharply pointed wing tip and possibly a straightish termen. Could this be Dark Chestnut?

Thanks, John

Hi John,

Yes, it looks like you've got one of each there.
