Some more queries

Here are some recent moths that have been puzzling me. As always any help gratefully received.

1. Possibly Caloptilla betulicola? Probably needs dissection. (2 images)
2. Juniper or Grey Pine Carpet?
3. I thought possible Winter Moth as it struck me as smaller and plainer than recent Novembers. (3 images)

Hi John,
I think your second moth is a Juniper Carpet. I get lots of these at the moment and I distinguish them from Grey Pine Carpets by the diagonal dashes at the wing tip; these point to the pointed bit of the median band, whereas the dashes in the Grey Pine Carpet don't.
Your third moth looks like a Winter Moth to me.
Best wishes,
Tim

Hi John,

I agree with Tim, Juniper Carpet and Winter Moth.

Thank you Tim and Greg.

Having spoken to Steve (Hind) the micro is most likely to be Caloptilia elongella or C. betulicola. The colour of the trochanter is one identification clue but I can’t decide from these photos if this is what is meant by ‘whitish’ or if it’s ‘paler, yellowish’. Better photos attached, any thoughts?

Cheers, John.
