Some leaf mines needing possible ID

Post by bobhelencoan »

Trying to complete our records for 2020 we have some leaf mines we would appreciate some help with.
We have two crab apple trees both show numerous blotch mines. Breeding through in the past Steve Hind suggested possible Phyllonorycter blancardella. We have posted these photos to record Phyllonorycter blancardella/ hostis. Apple trees show no similar mines. We hope we may get an adult moth to be able to confirm identity.
Suspect mines of Caloptilia robustella/ alchiemiella. Photo also shows larva. Does this enable to species to be identified as roborella? Comments welcopme. Bob & Helen
