We haven' t had much yet, more today including this one mystery.

Yes Heather,

Looks like one of the Caloptilia's either elongella or betulicola. Both are fairly common and are on the wing now
after overwintering as adults.
Steve Hind will have a better idea than me though.

Hi Heather
As Greg mentions this will be either Caloptilia elongella or betulicola. The colour of the trochanter and lack of either alder or birch locally can give a good indication of which but the NMRS guidelines do suggest that it should be dissected to be sure.

Always good to have a new moth especially so early in the season. Fortunately for the moth it was quite flighty and after getting a couple or three shots it flew off!
