Caloptilia sp?

Post by Tim_Ward »

Tuesday night was my best March trapping night ever for my Macclesfield garden; 85 moths of 15 species. Just one I can't identify (see pictures attached).I wondered if it might be a Caloptilia sp (perhaps populetorum?) because of the long legs but it doesn't really look like any of the photos in the books. I'm willing to dissect it but, before I do so, can anybody advise on what it might be?

Best wishes, Tim

Hi Steve,
Yes, thanks, I've now dissected it and it is clearly C. populetorum (see attached photo)
