Water Carpet?

Post by andrewjcharlton »

Caught this morning: is this Water Carpet? Overall a brown moth with slightly shiny wings (though worn). I see that is a common species for many of you but I've never seen it in 20 years of garden trapping. Thanks for the confirmation if it is.

I'd certainly say so Andrew.

Thank you Julian.
I'm only getting one or two moths per night (with three traps) at the moment, so it's nice to get something new!

Yes - it is dire at the moment! Like you I run 3 traps, with just one moth in each trap last night. Brown Silver-line NFY, but they're generally thick on the ground here. Things will hopefully explode in the next week or so.
