The jury will decide...

Post by swampthing »

Three macros either caught overnight, or photographed this afternoon. I feel quietly confident on two, the day-flier not so as most of the candidates are rather scarce (nemophora species). I just hope a certain i.d. can be allocated to it, as I hate mysteries.

Cheers,

Andy B.

Hi Andy
Looks like a female Nemophora cupriacella to me, an excellent find.
I would agree with your ID's on the two from your trap.

Andy

Thanks for posting the Euzophera pinguis - when I started mothing again last year I had a very distinctive moth that I couldn't ID. Left the photo to ID in the winter and failed again. Now I know what it is!!

Cheers

Thank you Steve. I was keeping my fingers crossed on the nemophora, but your confirmation is what my investigations had lead me to believe it was most likely to be. I didn't even mention that it was quite close to home either. This is what keeps me on my toes. And glad to have been of service John.

Cheers,

Andy B.
