Black Arches had been recorded in Cheshire only 8 times prior to 2012. Between 2012 and 2018, there was an average of one per year. Then in 2019, 8 were recorded in various "mid-Cheshire" sites, followed by 9 in 2020 (of which only one was on the Wirral).
