An Early Sycamore

Post by melbellingham »

Not much in the trap this morning with only 7 species recorded, but I was pleased to find a Sycamore close to the trap.

It is a species that requires a photo for verification, but although I have now recorded it each year since 2019, it is my earliest record, and well before the suggested flight period found in the usual literature.

I have noticed this year that I have also had a few ‘earliest records’ for some of the species recorded.

You're right, Mel, I've noticed reports this year of several other species that would be the earliest record for the county (e.g. Maiden's Blush, near Knutsford, 8th May 2022).
